Winter Wonder Festival 2016 – Elly’s Picks!

It was a magical time for figure collectors on the first weekend of February; Wonder Festival time was upon us once more! ✨ Wonder Festival (or WonFes for short) is a semi-annual event where people can showcase their garage kits and even sell a limited amount of them. But wait, there’s MORE! Not only are garage kits showcased, but major figure companies make an appearance to announce new figures that are going to be released soon along with showing some of the prototypes. Figure collectors around the world talked about this winter’s event with their favorite picks that they want to add to their collections, so I’d like to do the same. Here are my picks for this winter’s WonFes!

Max Factory’s Aoba Seragaki Figure Review!

Hello, fellow collectors! This post is definitely long-overdue, so I’m happy to finally be able to share it with all of you! 💕 In this post, we’ll be taking a close look at DRAMAtical Murder’s Aoba Seragaki in figure form, courtesy of Max Factory. DRAMAtical Murder is the most well-known BL game, and for a good reason too! From the character designs and how well the characters are written, to the game’s setting and unique music, along with all the attainable endings, DRAMAtical Murder is just oozing in style. The game takes place in the fictional island of Midorijima, which is under financial hold by Toue Corporation. Toue Corporation has been turning the island to the seemingly luxurious invite-only resort called Platinum Jail, while the island’s original residents were left behind in the slums, where the young entertain themselves by joining gangs and playing the popular cyber game named Rhyme. I’m sure you all know I have a lot of love for this game, since I talked about it A LOT last year in May as I played through both the first game and Re:Connect.

Gift’s Special Lot Day & Nuigurumi Day Events!

Come one, come all! It’s that time again…time for another Gift event! And this time, there’s TWO instead of one! The first event on October 24th is the Special Lot Day, and the second event on October 25th is the Nuigurumi Day. Both events are going to be held over at Hulic Hall in Tokyo. One event is a lottery event to commemorate Nitro+CHiRAL’s 10th Anniversary with all sorts of goods to get. The other event is a plush event where new plushies are showcased and available for purchase. Here are more details on the items that will be offered at the events!

Introducing Orange Rouge: A New Brand Dedicated to Male Characters!

Some exciting news for figure collectors, especially those who collect male figures!  Goodsmile Company and Max Factory have combined their forces to bring us a new figure line dedicated to male characters called Orange Rouge! Though I question why a different brand was needed for male figures rather than just simply producing those products under the normal brand, this at least highlights that they recognize that there is a demand for male characters merchandise, and they’re planning to meet that demand.

It’s time for Visual Novel May!

In an attempt to get more people to play through their backlog of games, the lovely Anne from Chic-Pixel has organized a year-long event composed of different game genres themes each month called the Community Game-Along. Each month a new theme starts, and players can join in playing titles of that particular genre. It’s a really neat concept that not only allows you to get through your huge backlog of games, but encourages people to talk about their progress on Twitter using the various hashtags per theme! I’ve decided to join in this month, since it’s Visual Novel May and I definitely have a lot of visual novel games that I hadn’t really played.

Gift’s Early Summer Campaign!

Gift tweeted early yesterday that they will be holding an online sale event called the Early Summer Campain. The event will be open online from May 15th to May 25th, where people will be able to purchase select exclusive goods from Gift. If you spend over 10,000 yen, shipping will be free, which is pretty nice. This event introduces some new items that haven’t been available before along with some re-releases, so if you’re a fan of Gift’s plushies, it’s worth it to order some of their webshop-exclusive plushies!

There are plenty of items to choose from, but these are the ones I think are worth noting!

Hello, fellow collectors! Yesterday, I got this adorable little gem of a plush in the mail! It’s the Gift Noiz plush, from DRAMAtical Murder, which is probably the most popular BL (Boy’s Love) game ever released. The game takes place in the fictional island of Midorijima, which is under financial hold by Toue Corporation. Toue Corporation has been turning the island to the seemingly luxurious invite-only resort called Platinum Jail, while the island’s original residents were left behind in the slums, where the young entertain themselves by joining gangs and playing the popular cyber game named Rhyme. DRAMAtical Murder gains its popularity from its unique characters and setting, not to mention the endings that players are able to attain.
