Tune Into the Midnight Channel as Persona 4 Golden Drops on Steam

🎵 You’ll never see it coming~ 🎶 Oh wait, wrong game. Ahem! Rejoice, for today is a day in which Persona 4 Golden is available on Steam for all PC folks to play and enjoy!

No, this isn’t a weird fever dream; a Persona game is FINALLY available on Steam, and it’s a Persona game that a lot of people love and adore. Persona 4 Golden originally released on November 20th in 2012 (ohmyGOD, it’s been THAT LONG?!) on the PlayStation Vita, and it’s a game that made many folks finally get onboard with owning a Vita. With new features, content and new social links, it became THE RPG to play that year. But fast-forward to now, and folks wanting to get into Persona 4 after dipping their toes into the Persona series through Persona 5 are at a roadblock with the Vita being long discontinued and getting harder to find in the wild.

I can go on and on talking about how much I love the Vita (VITA MEANS LIFE), but not many are willing to shell out the bucks to get a discontinued system to experience the majesty of Persona 4. In this economy?! Nah. The amount of folks who have a PC or a laptop far outnumber the amount of folks who are able to get their hands on a Vita, so wouldn’t it make more sense to put a beloved game where it can gain a new audience? Add in the bonus of reeling in fans of the game wanting to do another replay (while ignoring their backlogs… I know you have those unplayed games!).

For those not familiar with what Persona 4 Golden is all about, here’s some info on the game’s story from ATLUS:

Inaba—a quiet town in rural Japan sets the scene for budding adolescence in Persona 4 Golden.

A coming of age story that sets the protagonist and his friends on a journey kickstarted by a chain of serial murders. Explore meeting kindred spirits, feelings of belonging, and even confronting the darker sides of one’s self.

Persona 4 Golden promises meaningful bonds and experiences shared together with friends.

With an overall Metacritic score of 93 and a multitude of awards, fan-adored Persona 4 Golden stands as one of the finest RPGs ever made, delivering on enthralling storytelling and quintessential Persona gameplay.

With heavy themes centered around facing and accepting your inner self, it’s no wonder this game is one that many will remember for a long, long time. It’s incredibly easy to get so into playing and lose track of time, which is something that definitely happened to me many times this week! After countless hours of play, I can safely say that the Steam version of Persona 4 Golden is one folks won’t wanna miss!

With variable framerates, you’ll be able to explore the world of Persona 4 Golden in full HD! And if you’re into collecting those Steam trading cards and live to add more achievements to your profile page, you’ll be happy to know that the cards and achievements are in the game and waiting to be discovered. But the biggest addition to this version of the game is the ability to have the Japanese voice overs, which weren’t even present in its Western Vita release back in 2012. With an all-star cast like Daisuke Namikawa, Yui Horie, Showtaro Morikubo, Kana Hanazawa, Tomokazu Seki, Romi Park and many more… this is a pretty big deal! If you’re a fan of the English dub, don’t fret, because the English voice overs are also in the game! ✨

The Vox Populi feature makes its return, showing what other players did as they proceed through the game. By the way, this is an actual account of what other folks who previewed this release did when faced with the choice of going into the TV to save Yukiko, spend some time with Marie, do any other school activity or just… be part of the going home school club (really?!).  The Rescue Request is also back, just in case things get a bit too hairy while making your way through the Midnight Channel. I didn’t get to use that feature just yet, but I’m going to try it out as soon as everyone else starts playing!

Overall, I’ve been having a grand time as the hours piled on playing through Persona 4 Golden, and seeing everyone’s anticipation for the game on Twitter had me giddy! From “If that happens, here’s my wallet,” to “I’m totally streaming this!,” to “There’s no way that’s gonna happen, right?,” to “RIP VITA,” it was a real treat to see all the reactions up until the game’s PC announcement. I can’t wait for y’all to venture into the Midnight Channel all over again, and for folks to discover it for the very first time!

That being said, I should also mention that there are two versions available to buy: a Standard Edition, and the Digital Deluxe Edition.

The Standard Edition is the game you all know and love for a price of $19.99, which is a bargain considering how HUGE this game is!

Digital Deluxe Edition

The Digital Deluxe Edition contains the iconic game, plus the digital artbook and the digital soundtrack for a price of $24.99. If you wanna get these exclusive goodies, this is the edition you’ll wanna go with!

That’s enough out of me; I’m sure you’re all itching to play Persona 4 Golden, so off you go! Many thanks to the fine folks over at ATLUS for letting me preview this release. It was such a great and VERY unexpected treat! 💖 If you want the latest in what they’re up to, follow them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Until next time! ✨

  1. When I heard about the leak about Persona 4 Golden come to steam I was very surprised and almost couldn’t believe it. But I was very happy about it!

I never played it before but heard so much about it that made me want to play. Unfortunately buying a Vita just to play one game felt too much of a luxury. Specially because the Vita was already pretty much dead by then too. So I resigned myself to just watching the anime adaptation and playing the hell out of Persona 5, hoping that one day they would port the older Persona games to a platform I could play on.

Well, my wait has been rewarded and one of the Personas I wanted to play the most is available on a platform I can play on! 😀

Now here is hoping they eventually port other Persona games, specially Persona 3, which is another I heard only good things about. 🙂

    1. Glad you’re finally able to partake in the goodness of Persona 4! 😀 Personally (hah!), I think Persona 3 is the superior game; I like it waaaayyy more than Persona 4, but that’s not discounting how good Persona 4 is. Here’s to hoping that we’ll also get Persona 3 on Steam soon!

      1. I’ve also watched the anime adaptation of Persona 3, and story-wise it is also excellent and I can see why it is the favorite for a lot of people. I only started on the series with Persona 5 so that will probably end up being my favorite even if I can play the others. But maybe that will change too. Either way, I will just happily play whichever Persona games I can. 🙂
