We’ve truly been blessed this year with recent otome game announcements coming from Aksys Games, so there’s quite a bit to look forward to! 🙌 As we wait for more news of the localization of those games, why not take a closer look at a game that’s been out for awhile? Today, I’m gonna be talking about why otome game fans should add in a particular game to their list of games to play. And that game is the wonderful London Detective Mysteria!

“Our tale begins as the curtains close on the 19th century. This evening is as ordinary as they come for London, England. Mist hangs thick, beclouding the radiance of the moon and modest glow of gas lamps.

Now, a word of caution, if I may: take care on the streets to-night. It wouldn’t do for you to become the target of villains lurking in the shadows.
Even the Scotland Yard, the pride of our city, has yet to solve the many terrifying incidents that hide comfortably in its seediest corners. Most, perhaps, would scurry away with this advice than stroll blissfully into a trap. You strike me as an unusual sort, however, so should you find yourself drawn to the unsolvable…steel your nerves, and see your case through to its end.

Take solace in knowing that London is home to more than the purely unjust, for the just find their places amongst the likes of brilliant detectives and fearless gentlemen thieves.

“Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday was to be the heiress of House Whiteley’s debut into high society, but an inquiring mind begs for more than parties as she stumbles into the many curiosities that lay hidden in London’s darkest corners. Help sharpen Lady Whiteley’s instincts as a budding detective, take control of her present to uncover the mysteries of her past, and grow an unbreakable bond with one of many dashing personalities from well-known works of fiction.”

 

Characters with “Dashing personalities,” you say? 👀 And a protagonist detective who gets stuff done? I’m already liking what I’m hearing! Let’s go a little deeper as to why you should give London Detective Mysteria a shot. Get your tea ready! 🍵

 

Emily Is a Proactive & Charming Heroine

 

 

Our protagonist of the game is the cute as a button Emily Whiteley, the heiress of the prestigious Whiteley House. A budding detective, she’s pretty sharp and spots clues that most people often miss, but she sometimes has the knack of getting into trouble due to being sheltered as she was growing up. That being said, Emily’s not afraid to get her hands dirty to bring forth the truth. She’s not afraid of expanding her limited worldview as she goes on her tasks. And she loves food so very much, and that’s something everyone can relate to!

 

Oh No, the Butler Is HOT!

 

 

OhmyGOD, HE’S Emily’s butler?! Please send help, because he’s 🔥HOT🔥! Pendleton has the looks AND the sass! He constantly teases Emily due to her being naive, often coming up with ridiculous situations that makes me want to slap his beautiful face. Even though he can be a bit of a jerk, he’s driven to protect Emily from all harm at any cost. Not much is known about this guy other than his love and adoration for scones. I can’t wait to date Pendleton–WAIT, WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CAN’T DATE THE BUTLER?! ☎️ Hello, Karin Entertainment? WE WANT TO SMOOCH PENDLETON!!! 😭

 

You Can Date Jack the Ripper?!

 

 

Alright, alright, I’ll get over not being able to smooch Pendleton (someday…), but there are other very appealing character that we can smooch. Like… Jack the Ripper?? Am I reading this right?! And then there’s… is that Holmes and Watson? And LUPIN?! Okay game, you’ve got my attention. London Detective Mysteria features a colorful cast of characters, with some of them being based on famous detective mystery genre figures. And then there’s Jack the Ripper. I’ve heard from various fans of the game that his route is the best one, which really gets me curious about him, but I’m also thinking Lupin might turn out to be my fave! Who are you most interested in seeing more of, my dear readers?

 

The Game Was Given Care Through a Strong Localization

 

 

It’s no secret that XSEED Games puts a lot of love and care into their titles, and that love and care certainly is present in London Detective Mysteria! The localization team put in a lot of time to research Victorian British English, French, cockney, and way more to give the game a more authentic feel for the time period it’s based in, all while respecting the source material.
